Russia and Indonesia Strengthen Cooperation in Special Economic Zones, Eyeing INNOPROM-2026

Russia and Indonesia are actively fostering collaboration in the realm of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and industrial parks, opening up new avenues for industrial cooperation.
The prospects for this burgeoning partnership were thoroughly discussed at the Indonesia-Russia Business Forum held in Tangerang. During the forum, Russian companies were presented with attractive investment conditions and a wide range of opportunities in Indonesian SEZs.
Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department for Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, emphasized that both countries strategically utilize SEZs for territorial development. He noted that launching cooperation in this area is particularly relevant in anticipation of the forthcoming signing of a Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Indonesia, which will create additional incentives for businesses.
Netti Muharni, Head of the Bureau for Investment, Cooperation, and Communication of the Indonesian National Council on Special Economic Zones, highlighted that Indonesia boasts 25 SEZs, offering investors government infrastructure support, zero import duties on equipment, simplified permit procedures, and eased visa and administrative regulations.
Representatives from Indonesian organizations confirmed their readiness to provide comprehensive support to Russian investors.
A key focus of the forum was the upcoming participation of Indonesia in the XVI International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM-2026, scheduled to take place from July 6th to 9th, 2026, in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Jatu Riyandi Primadining, Economic Coordinator and Counsellor-Envoy of the Indonesian Embassy in Russia, announced that Indonesia will participate in the exhibition as a partner country. She expressed confidence that this event will facilitate the establishment of new contacts and the formation of long-term partnerships.
