In Yuzhnouralsk, the construction of the Glass Insulator Production Plant (GIPP) is nearing completion and is scheduled to open in December. Forenergo Production Association plans to establish two additional enterprises: a varistor production plant and a foundry.
“We are also considering a laboratory and a training center, but this is a future prospect, as the campus launch is planned for 2026. At present, we are already working closely with SUSU. Just a year ago, we signed a cooperation agreement with the university’s rector. At this summer’s INNOPROM Trade Fair in Yekaterinburg, SUSU presented its machine vision-based solution for detecting defects in glass parts, customized specifically for our YUMEC plant,” notes Ella Irmukhametova.
Forenergo Production Association currently meets 100% of Russia’s demand for glass insulators. The launch of the new plant will further increase production capacity, including for export to international markets. The holding company already maintains partnerships with 30 countries.
The new glass insulator plant will operate on the premises of the bankrupt South-West Plant, where production has already been ongoing for two years. On the same site, construction of a varistor production plant is planned. Varistors are critical components for surge arresters.
