On July 8, Day 1 of Tenth International Industrial Trade Fair INNOPROM-2019, ASE Engineering Company (Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division), National Nuclear Research University MEPhI (NNRU MEPhI), and Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin (UrFU) signed an agreement on cooperation in education, science, and technology.
The document was signed by ASE EC JSC Vice-President for Personnel and Internal Communications Natalia Shafalovich, First Vice-Rector of NNRU MEPhI Oleg Nagornov, and Vice-Rector for Economics and Strategic Development of UrFU Daniil Sandler. The agreement dramatically expands cooperation between ASE EC and two largest core universities of Rosatom State Corporation.
Vice-President for Personnel and Internal Communications Natalia Shafalovich stressed the importance of trilateral partnership and pointed out that digital competences constituted a current priority, which is why UrFU was invited to join the collaborative effort launched by Rosatom Engineering Division and NNRU MEPhI three years ago.
"Our current priority is technological leadership, which is impossible unless all employees possess modern digital competences. Higher School of Engineering project is a stage in the development of a modern engineer who not only knows about digital twins, but can actually make them, has good command of various engineering systems, and is capable of blueprinting complex technological objects, such as nuclear power stations," Natalia Shafalovich explained.
According to Vice-Rector for Economics and Strategic Development of UrFU Daniil Sandler, the Ural Federal University perceives the agreement as a logical step, "We have a long history of productive cooperation with Rosatom. Higher School of Engineering will allow for solving relevant issues at a higher level in collaboration with NNRU MEPhI and ASE Engineering Company.
First Vice-Rector of NNRU MEPhI Oleg Nagornov shared, We also started working with Rosatom a long time ago. We have a joint program with ASE, and students are very happy to be a part of it. I think that employers will also be pleased. First Vice-Rector of NNRU MEPhI added that in the modern day and age it was important to ensure practically oriented student training, respond to challenges of the digital economy, and promote digitalization of industrial facilities.
